m) Methodology used for dating:
n) We dated the series using COFECHA (Version 6.06P). COFECHA dates the series by multiple comparisons of the time series in question with regional chronology from the same site (KLL). Master chronology and undated series are first detrended with a cubic smoothing spline with 50% wavelength cutoff at 32 years. Each 50-year segment is lagged successively by 25 years against the master. Autoregressive model applied and residuals used for master dating series and testing. Correlation is Pearson correlation at the 99% confidence level. Best 11 positions based on Pearson correlation coefficients are reported below. The date is confirmed by checking the possible synchronous positions in the table visually and by verifying that the context information as a priori-information do not rule out a given date.
