Data formats

Data is available in the following formats:

• html: Web pages for browsing (default)
• csv: Comma-separated values for reading into spreadsheets
• txt: Tab-delimited plain text
• oxcal: Input files for radiocarbon calibration
• json: Structured data files for R, Phython and online tools
• bib: BibTex bibliography file for all citations

All text is UTF8 encoded.

Search terms

The two primary keys for data retrieval are the DOI of a publication or the labcode of a radiocarbon date. Other searches will be indexed by the major search engines and specific search facilities will be added to this site.

Example usage

This site is designed for RESTful data access. URLs are used to retrieve or display data. The suffix used determines the format in which the data is retrieved. The following are examples:

  • http://intchron.org/doi - will list all publications indexed
  • http://intchron.org/doi.bib - will download a BibTex bibliography of all publications

  • http://intchron.org/doi/10.1126/science.1189395 - will display data from the paper with the DOI:10.1126/science.1189395
  • http://intchron.org/doi/10.1126/science.1189395.csv - will download the data as a csv file
  • http://intchron.org/doi/10.1126/science.1189395.txt - will download the data as a txt file
  • http://intchron.org/doi/10.1126/science.1189395.oxcal - will download the radiocarbon data as an oxcal file
  • http://intchron.org/doi/10.1126/science.1189395.json - will download the data as a json file
  • http://intchron.org/doi/10.1126/science.1189395.bib - will download the citations as a bib file
