n) We dated the series using COFECHA (Version 6.06P). Crossdating was a two-step verification process. First, I attempt to date each series against other series from the site, once an overlap in years is suggested by the skeleton plot and by COFECHA, the series is then added to the master ELMA data set. All crossdating metrics must indicate with a high degree of statistical certainty (p < 0.0001) that the sample is indeed crossdated in its exact temporal position. Secondly, once all series are included in the master data set for ELMA, a chronology was created for the site and compared to nearby tree-ring chronologies that were developed from archaeological sites throughout the American Southwest. This process is given in detail in my dissertation and in the subsequent peer-reviewed publication:
