Dating was done by multiple comparisons of the time series in question with the regional master sequences and single trees. The candidate for cross-dating is tested in every possible synchronous position with each master chronology and single floating trees statistically using t-values and Gleichläufigkeit indices (Baillie and Pilcher, 1973) in TSAPWin (Professional, version 4.80ff) and visually applying logarithmic scaling, which makes comparison of series easier. Those positions that produce results above a given threshold (defined individually) are noted in a table.
